ARGANI

Rose Water and Orange Blossom

Two Moroccan distillates, for skin that needs water before it needs oil.

From the Amazigh to your skin

The material

Steam goes through flowers. This is what comes back.

A hydrosol is the water left behind by distillation. Steam is passed through flowers, the oil is taken off the top, and what remains is a water that carries the scent and the soluble part of the plant. It is not perfume diluted in water, and it is not water with fragrance added to it.

That is why these two share a page. They are made the same way and do the same work; what separates them is the flower, and the flower changes everything about their scent and the moment each belongs to.

Rosa damascena

Rose Water

The rounder of the two.

Damask rose, distilled. It smells of the flower itself rather than of rose perfume: greener, and far less sweet than most expect. Reach for it when the skin feels warm or tight, or has just left the hammam.

  • On clean skin, before oil
  • Dampen a finger for Aker El Fassi
  • Loosen a nila or rassoul paste
  • Into the bath

Citrus aurantium

Orange Blossom Water

The brighter of the two.

Distilled from the blossom of the bitter orange. Sharper and more lifted than rose, with something almost green behind it. A Moroccan household keeps it for the pastry as much as for the skin, and on skin it sits lighter than rose does.

How to use them

Water first. Always.

The ARGANI ritual rests on a single principle: water first, then oil. Oil holds water in but cannot supply it, so the water goes on first, and the oil follows while the skin is still damp.

Three steps, under a minute.

01

Onto clean skin

Mist or pat it on straight after cleansing, while the face is still slightly damp. Enough that the skin is visibly wet, not so much that it runs.

02

Do not let it dry

Move to the oil while the skin still feels damp to the back of a finger.

03

Press the oil on

Two drops of ARGANI Argan Oil, warmed between the palms and pressed in, never rubbed.

For external use only. Patch test before the first full use.

The ARGANI standard

Water first. Radiance after.

Distilled in Marrakech-Safi from Damask roses and bitter orange blossom. Each water refreshes and tones the skin, carries the true scent of its flower, and prepares the skin to receive the oil that follows. The first gesture of every Moroccan beauty ritual.

Kept at its finest

Cool, closed, out of the light.

A hydrosol is almost entirely water and carries little preservative, which makes it delicate. Keep it closed and out of the sun, avoid touching the opening, and consider the refrigerator.

For external use only. Avoid the eye area. If the smell changes or the liquid turns cloudy, stop using it.
